• • chapter one - the rules ,
• • the rules ; out-of-character (ooc) .
1. mind your manners. a lot of people think that just because they're on the internet they can be rude and say whatever they want, and, well, essentially act like idiots. the internet, just like the real world, has real people and us real people don't take kindly to Neanderthals with no etiquette. .. so, yes. basically, be nice. if you have any qualms with others, please try to keep it off of the forum. pm's are the only things i'll allow, but don't let your arguments flood the forums or the chat-box.
2. don't spam, thanks. for the sake of keeping things neat, i won't bother going into detail about what spam is, and what it stands for, etc., so.. basically, don't post unless you actually have something meaningful to say. a 'lol' or 'omg' here or there in the chat-box is okay, but don't overdo it. besides, i think i would get pretty sick of someone if all they said was 'lol', 'rotfl', 'lmao' and 'omg'. the conversation would go nowhere fast.
• • the rules ; in-character (ic) .
1. no one-liners. a one-liner is literally when someone posts one sentence and calls that an 'rp'. sure, it technically is a role-play, but it won't help you or the person that you're role-playing with. try to post around a solid one or two paragraphs. five-to-six sentences, maybe (that's really not a lot, at all)? at the very least, try to make sure that your posts are around the length of this paragraph.
2. don't dominate topics. what i call 'dominating topics' is what most people call 'god-modding'. the best example of god-modding is seen in fights; basically, this is when John swings his sword at Dave, and instead of saying..John rose his sword high into the air, the sounds of the raging storm attacking his ears. In a drastic attempt to end this grueling battle, he swung his sword downwards, cutting a clean line through Dave's skin, effectively ending the poor fellow's life.
as opposed to..John rose his sword high into the air, the sounds of the raging storm attacking his ears. In a drastic attempt to end this grueling battle, he swung his sword downwards, attempting to finish off Dave in one final blow.
basically, don't assume that you automatically win. and that's about it.
3. one character per account. character's do not share accounts. also, there isn't an established character limit, but there will be if people start giving themselves too much to handle. if you can handle five, then fine. if you can handle twenty, then fine. but if you can't, then don't try. :x
• • the rules ; images .
1. avatars. they should be no larger (or smaller, really) than 100 pixels by 100 pixels (100x100). no pornography, no severed limbs, none of that, please.
2. signatures. they should be no larger than 450 pixels by 200 pixels (450x200). again, no pornography, etc.
• • one more thing ,
1. buttons && knives is a completely member-driven roleplay. that is, the plot moves and is controlled by the members, new cities will only appear if a member is brave enough to find/found one, organizations will fall and rise with the input of the members.. basically, this is pretty much a real world, and the only input staff may have on the role-play is.. natural disasters? (huhu)
but, yes. anything a member suggests could, in theory, become reality.
